Anjali warms our cockles by releasing ‘Rainy Day’ on February 16th. Anjali’s recent album ‘The World of Lady A’ was met with much praise upon its release in August 2003. With its mix of funky soundtracks, exotic hip-hop beats and smoky vocals, it was declared as a a “hugely sexy record” (Telegraph), with the Sunday Times proclaiming that “her extraordinary voice, which glides over tracks as seductive as Rainy Day, is reason enough to make this one of your summer buys.”

Rainy Day’ is sultry 60s slice of girl pop. Anjali’s breathy vocals effortlessly roll over a majestic, orchestral soundtrack. Anjali also provides an enchanting version in French, due to overwhelming demand from our gallic cousins

Anjali, queen of exotica and siren of sexy loungecore, is to release her new single 7 x 8 on August 4th.

Sounding as if it has been plucked straight out of a swinging 60s film soundtrack, 7 x 8 takes Anjali’s sensual sound on a more rock ‘n’ roll reverb trip, in an East meets West experience. Anjali’s breathy vocals soar over a rockabilly bassline, surf guitars and traditional sitars. To compliment this, the instrumental version Stinging Sitars x 9 is a mystical, sitar-lead track featuring the well respected Sheema Mukherjee on sitar. Anjali’s Indian roots have always been important, and Stinging Sitars make that debt abundantly clear. We are also treated to another instrumental, Scape # 1, which is more typical of the downtempo sound Anjali is known for, as she concocts a sublime and incredibly sensual take on lounge exotica, with its spy-film atmospherics, Serge Gainsbourg sensibilities and low-slung beats.

Anjali’s new album ‘The World of Lady A’ is due for release in September.
