The original biog ran something like this:

Comet Gain played their first gig in February 1993, the height of the Riot Grrrl era, at the Monarch in Camden. Although the intention was to play just once and never be seen again, they were received with such acclaim that they decided to ditch their day jobs and pursue a career in pop stardom.

Sam (Guitarist/Songwriter) hit Mad Chester with a vengeance in 1988 and has only recently emerged from drug rehabilitation. He once worked as a milkman in North London, but had to give up due to sexual exhaustion.

Hoffner Burns (Drums/Percussion) was raised on a sheep ranch in Arizona but ran away at fifteen after he fell into a sheep dip and and was ridiculed by his fellow school mates. On reaching London he paced the streets, busking on a copy of the yellow pages in order to earn his daily crust.

Jax (Bass/Keyboards) was raised by church mice after being left in her cradle on the porch of a church in rural France. The mice taught her to play the organ and for many years she was contented. Then, when she was sixteen she fell in love with the vicar’s daughter and was banished forever. She made her way to London and earnt a small living playing organ at church weddings.

David Charlie Feck (Singer/Guitarist/Songwriter) joined the army at 16 but on the dawn of Thatcherism in 1979 he renounced Patriotism for International Socialism and can now be heard orating on the evils of the Tories in youth clubs around the country.

Sarah (Singer) started life as an amateur actress, but when she failed the audition for the part of Wellard in Eastenders on the grounds that “her barking just wasn’t up to scratch!” she traded Barbara Woodhouse for singing lessons and never looked back.

How did five people with backgrounds so diverse find each other?

The band split in January 1997, yep, the usual excuses, musical differences, which become quite apparent when viewing the two fledgling bands that emerged. Sarah, Sam and Jax became Velocette and are engaged in the production of glittering pop music...

David recruited a new band to play under the Comet Gain moniker and let loose with his punk rock influences. The band are doing well in America, where they are pals of the Peechees (David played bass on the
last Peechees tour, when poor old Rop was refused entry to Britain). The latest news on the Gain is that they have recorded an album for Kill Rock Stars...
